VIVEKANANDA CULTURAL INSTITUTE is the short title of VIVEKANANDA CENTENARY MEMORIAL INSTITUTE, which is a unique institution situated in the heart of the capital of Kerala, with a meritorious history spanning about half a century. It has been registered as a Charitable Society with S. No. 9 of 1967 on 13 February 1967 under the Travancore-Cochin Literary, Scientific and Charitable Societies’ Registration Act XII of 1955. It is in possession of a single-storyconcrete building situated in a land of 50 cents adjoining the head quarters of the University of Kerala. The building houses a medium size hall with a green room, office room, rest rooms on its ground floor and its roof top provides facilities for performances attended by gatherings upto 400.

The institution has been benefitted by the direction and guidelines provided by luminaries including Smt. Lekshmi N Menon (Ex Minister, Govt of India), Sri K Sukumaran (Managing Editor, Keralakaumudi, Thiruvananthapuram), Sri KC Pillai (An avowed follower of Tagore and Gandhiji), Rtn CGG Panicker (Reputed management expert), Sri VGG Nair (Ex General Manager, Industrial Cables Ltd, Punjab) and many others, who served in several capacities as office-bearers and /or advisors.

The present Managing Committee includes the following members who have commendable track record in the respective areas of culture:

President, The President of India’s Awardee Scholar (2017) Formerly Chairman, Keralakalamandalam and Chair Professor of Linguistics, University of Kerala and Visiting Professor in several Indian and foreign Universities. The programs numbering several hundreds, organized by the Institution include the following:

Speeches and spiritual discourses byPoojaneeya Swami Ramganathananda and Professor G Balakrishnan Nair.

Staging of classical performing art forms like Kathakali, Kootiyattam, Chakyarkoothu, Nangyarkoothu, Thullal, Ayyappan Theeyattu, Mutiyeetu and conducting concerts of classical music and programs to provide exposure to different aspects of music of all types embracing classical, semi-classical and light including popular film music.
